These beads were made using an Ivory glass.  Ivory glass was melted and silver foil melted into it then pulled to a thin rod which is called a Silvered Ivory Stringer. This stringer was then used to apply a wrap of glass around the center of the beads.  Don't you love the webbing effect?!
