This is a beautiful Fossililzed Coral that was cut and polished into the shape of a butterfly wing.  I created the body using the sandcast method.  I used the tip of a paintbrush to create a mold in sand in which to pour molten sterling silver that solidified when cooled.  I slightly bent the tip of the body to create movement in the butterfly's body. The head is just a melted ball of sterling silver with wire used to make the antennae.
